Nellie M. Lewis 1923 - 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Nellie Lewis of Moncton and formerly of Steeves Mountain. As was her wish, she died at home with her family at her side on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 after several weeks of declining health. She was 86 years old. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late John and Lila (Fairweather) Rogers. She was a member of the Steeves Mountain Baptist Church. Nellie lived her life for her family and being the kind, caring person that she was, she could always be counted on for love and support. Among her many joys in life were family gatherings, baking, flower gardening, travelling and knitting. Nellie will be deeply missed by her eight children, Blossom Spence (Roger Buotte), John "Sonny" (Carolyn), Eldora Sherwood (David), all of Steeves Mountain, Shirley Dobson (Ross) of Boundary Creek, Clara Eaton (Ross) of Brampton, ON, Nancy Leaman (Robert) of Berry Mills, Elmer of Bay Roberts, NL and Greta Blanchard (Laurie) of Salisbury; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, George Rogers (Joan) of Indian Mountain; a sister-in-law, Louetta Lewis of Moncton; numerous nieces and nephews and her extended family, the Cochranes. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Aldean; an infant daughter; a great grandchild, Tanya Kaye and her special friend, Ken Cochrane. Funeral service, Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, June 5, 2009, 1:30 pm, Rev. Rick Thomas officiating. Reception following the service in the Funeral Home Reception Centre.
