JODIE LEE (FLYNN) KING

KING, JODIE LEE (FLYNN) - (Inuvik/Lakevale - 1949-2009) - It is with a heavy heart that the family of Jodie King announces her death on Sunday, June 21st at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Jodie was born in New Glasgow, the only child of Natalie (O'Brien) Flynn Graham and the late Garrett Flynn. After living for several years in the Thorburn - New Glasgow area, Jodie and her mom moved to Moncton, New Brunswick where Jodie completed her high school years. Jodie then journeyed to St. Francis Xavier University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts and Education and met the love of her life, Cliff. They both went on to complete their Master of Education at St. FX. Jodie and Cliff left Nova Scotia to start their teaching careers in Inuvik, NWT where they had their two boys, David and Jason. Although Inuvik became their home for 31 years, they never forgot Nova Scotia and Antigonish, coming back each summer and finally building their residence in Lakevale in 1983, where Jodie moved permanently after the sudden death of her beloved Cliff in 2004. Jodie is survived by her mom, Natalie (O'Brien) Flynn Graham of Moncton and her two sons, Jason (Colleen) of Halifax/Lakevale and David (Suzanne) of Inuvik. She is predeceased by her husband Cliff King, her father Garrett Flynn and stepfather Carr Graham. There will be no visitation at Jodie's request. The funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Columba Catholic Church in Lakevale at 11:30am Thursday, June 25th. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of C.L. Curry Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be gratefully accepted for the Palliative Care Unit at St. Martha's Hospital or the St. Columba Cemetery Fund. On line condolences: www.clcurry.com
