AUDREY HELEN CURRIE

CURRIE, AUDREY HELEN - February 11, 1931 - July 6, 2009 - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Audrey Helen Currie, at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Regional Hospital, Moncton. Born in Armdale, Nova Scotia to the late Raymond and Melinda (Dunbar) Bouchard, Mom spent her life in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and as an avid fisher, found a stream or lake wherever she was in which to fish. Mom loved fishing, and could be found every spring with her fishing rod on the shores of various lakes, her favourites being in Antigonish County. She also loved music, especially fiddle music and the dancing that accompanied it. Even in her later years, she could out step her grandchildren and was a frequent visitor to the old-time dances in Lorne, Pictou County. She especially enjoyed the music played on Saturday afternoon at the Pub in Antigonish when her nephew Mathew was playing the spoons. Throughout her life, Mom volunteered with her church and community as a Girl Guide Leader. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a caring grandmother. Her humour, courage, strength and kindness will be dearly missed by daughters, Teresa Currie, Colleen (Joe) Hebb; sons Pat (Joan) Currie, Ed Currie, Mike (Janet) Currie; sisters Margaret Skerry, Shirley (Ken) Watters, Pauline (Bill) Malcolm; brothers Ronald (Shirley) Bouchard, and Raymond Bouchard; grandchildren, Joel and Brad Currie, Carly and Erin Currie, Justin and Jordan Hebb, Adam Mutch, and Melana Currie along with her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Blair Currie. Cremation has taken place and visitation will be held at the C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Thursday from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, with Reverend Charles Cameron officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only, please. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. George Dumont Hospital - Palliative Care Unit in Moncton, or the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences: www.clcurry.com
