James Patrick Hickey

1935 - 2008 We the family of Jim Hickey are saddened to announce his passing on Nov. 29, 2008 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by his loving family. He will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend, Delores (Henry); his children, Shelly Knight, Jamie (Cynthia) and Shauna Goudreau (Jean-Pierre); his grandchildren, Randhall, Paige, Ethan and Brendan; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Christine (Hollohan); brothers and sisters, Jen, Bill, Ann, Margaret, Joseph and Stephen. Jim was a devoted and caring husband and father. He was an avid tarabish player, hunter and fly fisherman. He enjoyed entertaining his friends and family with his beautiful voice, one of his many special gifts. He was a well respected salesman for Electrolux for 35 years. Special thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit, City Homemakers and the V.O.N. for their gentle care, love and support. Visitation will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass to be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m., Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier. Internment to be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society or the CBRH Palliative Care Unit. Online condolences may be forwarded to the family at mem.com.
