HAROLD W. GILLISS
GILLISS, HAROLD W. - 1928-2009 - Miramichi - Harold William Gilliss, husband of Dorothy Gilliss, of the North Napan Road, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Wednesday afternoon, July 29, 2009, at the age of 81. Born in Center Napan, on April 15, 1928, he was the son of the late Lemuel and Janet (Morrison) Gilliss. He was a retired employee of the Dept. of National Defence, at the former CFB St. Margarets with twenty-five years service. He was a member of Carmel United Church, Napan and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and trapping and took great pride in his vegetable garden. Left with treasured memories are his loving wife of 61 years, the former Dorothy MacKnight; a special niece, Kathy (MacNaughton) Lowe (John), of Lethbridge, Alberta; brother and sister in law, Murray and Isabel MacNaughton, of Napan; sisters in law, Rita and Stella Gilliss, of Napan and Lillian Morrison, of Miramichi; as well as several nieces & nephews and cousins and his faithful companion Koda. He was predeceased by three brothers, Andrew and Lloyd Gilliss and Merle Morrison; Infant twin sisters. Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., on Thursday only, from 2-4 & 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held from Carmel United Church, Napan, on Friday, July 31, 2009, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. David Cleveland. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Carmel United Church, the Miramichi Chapter of the S.P.C.A., or any charity of the donors choice, would be appreciated by the family.
