
CARMEL RUTH MACDONALD
MACDONALD, CARMEL RUTH - Miramichi - Carmel Ruth MacDonald, wife of Reg MacDonald, of Miramichi Bay, passed away on August 11th, after a lengthy stay at the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home in Miramichi, New Brunswick. Born in Miramichi, on January 15th, 1930, she was the youngest child of the late Donald A. and Catherine (MacDonald) MacDonald. Carmel was a devoted and dearly loved wife, mother and grandmother. Carmel spent her working career as a well respected school teacher. She taught at numerous schools in the provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec. Following retirement she was a member of the New Brunswick Retired Teachers Association, was instrumental in helping to establish and promote the Reverend Douglas Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund, and was an active and valued member of St. Michael's By The Sea Roman Catholic Church, Miramichi Bay. She is survived by her husband Reg MacDonald; one daughter, Kim Lightfoot (Paul), of Fredericton; two sons, Scott MacDonald (Louisianne), of Fredericton and Chris MacDonald (Jane), of Rothesay; one sister, Louise MacDougall, of the Miramichi Senior Citizens home; eight grandchildren, Colin, Shannon, Thomas, Rachel, Daniel, Cole, Jacob and Jadon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Joan McLenaghan, Irene LeBlanc, Linda MacDonald, Mary MacDonald; and three brothers; Alfred MacDonald, Richard MacDonald and John MacDonald. Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King Street, on Friday August 14th only, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's By The Sea Roman Catholic Church, on Saturday, August 15th, at 10 am, conducted by Father John Keoughan. Interment will be in the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Reverend Douglas Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home or to a memorial of one's choice, would be appreciated by the family.
