MACDONALD, CECIL LEONARD - (1927 - 2009), passed away peacefully in his sleep, at Victoria General Hospital, N.S. after a long battle with cancer and heart disease, on July 13th, 2009. He is survived by a son Robert, a grandson, daughter-in-law; brothers, Harold, Dartmouth, N.S. Herman, Dieppe, N.B. and special friend, Mary. Cecil's wife Dorothy Dean, died in 2001, in Dartmouth, N.S. His body was donated to the school of medicine at Dalhousie University as per his last wish. Cecil was born in Harcourt N.B., moved to Dalhousie Junction in 1930 when his parents, brothers and sisters took up residence there. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy on H.M.C.S. Magnificent, and is a member of Somme Branch No. 31 Royal Canadian Legion. A memorial service in remembrance of him will be held at the Somme Branch No, 31 Dartmouth, N.S. at 2:00pm, on Sunday August 23rd, 2009 for all who wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that a donation be made to either Somme Branch No. 31 Royal Canadian Legion or the Foundation of the Victoria General Hospital.
