ALAIN, DOROTHY JEAN (VANSICKLER) - "My name is Jean, not Dorothy" Born September 16, 1921 in Toronto, married Yvon J. A. Alain on May 2, 1943 in Bathurst, NB. Mom and Dad had five children: Robert (Dianna), Riverview, Roger (Mavis) St. Stephen, Richard (Erika), Fredericton, John, Calgary and Susan, Edmonton. In addition to her children, Jean is survived by grandchildren, Lori and Angela, Lynette, Christina and James, Christopher and Andrew, Alvin and Kristy and Charity. She also cherished several great-grandchildren: Josh and Steven Lockhurst, Brittany Clark Patrick and Jean-Luc Melanson and Kristy's daughter. In addition to her husband who passed away Jan. 1, 1988 Jean was also predeceased by a grandson, James Alain in 1975. Jean and Yvon moved to Fredericton in 1957, firstly to the northside and then to New Maryland. Following his death, Jean moved to Woodbridge Ave. where she enjoyed tending to her flowers. Jean worked for many ears at CFB Gagetown and was a long-standing member of the Catholic Women's League. She enjoyed, playing bridge, bowling, lawn bowling and aquacise classes. Resting at Bishops Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton, where the family will receive friends & visitors on Friday August 28th from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2009 from St. Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church at 2:00 PM with Father Gerry White officiating. Interment to take place in the Hermitage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
