CAIRNS, JOHN ROBERT - of Riverview, NB and formerly of Frankville and Dartmouth, NS, and Manuels, NL, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 5th, 2009 at the Moncton Hospital. Born September 13th, 1945 in Montreal, Quebec, he was the son of the late Lorne and Lillian (Hiscock) Cairns. John served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1964- 1972. He worked for the Canadian Coast Guard until his early retirement in 1997. He leaves to mourn his wife Judy Cairns (Young); two sons, Jody (Dawn Torraville) of Riverview and Phillip (Jenny Higgins) of St. John's, NL; two precious grandchildren, Caitlyn and Iain (Riverview); his brother, Roger (Rosalind Peach) of Foxtrap NL, as well as many other dear relatives and friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his niece, Jennifer Cairns and her baby Jayden, and his special friend Rosalind. Cremation has taken place; there will be no visitation by personal request. The funeral service will take place Wednesday, September 9th, 2009 at 1:30 pm from St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Woolridge Avenue, Riverview, NB with Rev. Brent Ham officiating, following the service there will be a reception in the church hall. A memorial service and burial will take place on Monday, September 14th, 2009 at 2:00 pm in Topsail, NL at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. It would bring joy to John's heart knowing that donations in his memory were made to the annual Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Appeal or to the charity of the donor's choice.
