HERBERT, GENEVA RITA - Geneva Rita Herbert, wife of the late James "Jimmy" E. Herbert of Miramichi, NB, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 79. Born in Richibucto, NB, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Legere) Robichaud. Geneva was a member of the Newcastle United Baptist Church and worked for the Miramichi Red Cross for 25 years. She was very active in the community and enjoyed swimming and was famous for her meat pies. Geneva is survived by one daughter, Ida Marie Herbert of Penticton, BC; two sons, Gregory of Miramichi, NB, Brian (Clara) of North Bay, ON; three sisters, Alma (the late Dennis Sawyer) of Rexton, NB, Grace (the late Joe Herbert) of Riverview, NB, Irene Boudreau (Albert) of Shediac, NB; three brothers, Rudy (Margaret) of Moncton, NB, Ron (June) of Riverview, NB, Roger of Richibucto, NB; one sister in law, Claudette Robichaud of Richibucto, NB; five grandchildren, Kayla, Kristin, Cory, Jonathan and Christopher; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Geneva is predeceased by one brother, Theodore (Ted). The family will receive visitors at Bell's Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Friday at 11 am with Rev. Ron Feltmate officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.
