PETLEY, MELVIN H. - 1928 - 2009 - The death of Melvin H. Petley occurred on Monday September 7th, 2009 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Harcourt December 21st, 1928 he was the son of the late Lockhart and Vera (McCleary) Petley. Mel had been employed with Walkers Security and Allied Van Lines before his retirement. After his retirement he enjoyed selling at flea markets as a pass time. He is survived by Rita Petley; his daughter, Judy of Moncton; son, Rev Dale Petley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; stepson, Art Surette of Orillia, ON; his grandchildren, Kelley Petley, Ashley and Jonathan McLeod, Jaime Lawlor and Chris Goodwin; and his great grandson, Joshua Petley. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his twin sister, Madeline Young; his brothers Cecil, Tom, Morrin, Ern and Arnold. It was Mel's wish that there not be any public visitation or funeral service. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorial donations in Mel's memory may be made to the memorial of the donor's choice.
