BANNISTER, PETER ROBERT - 53, Elgin, passed away at home on September 18, 2009. Born in Hillside, he was a son of the late Sherman and Bernice (Murray) Bannister. Peter worked at Fawcett's Lumber for 28 years, and was currently employed by MRDC. He was a member of the Elgin Baptist Church. He enjoyed four- wheelering and spending time socializing at the Irving. Peter is survived by his sisters, Donna (Eugene) Bannister, and Judy (Curtis) Dunham; his brother, Andrew (Dianne) Bannister, all of Elgin; his sister-in-law, Lisa Bannister of Salisbury; as well as by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his sister, Linda Woods; his brothers, Ronald and Christopher; and his step-father, Carman Hopper. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Armstrong's Funeral Home, Petitcodiac from where visitation will be held on Sunday from 6 to 9 pm; the funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 pm at Armstrong's Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Allen presiding. Interment will be held in the New Elgin Cemetery. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your personal choice would be appreciated by the family.
