Theresa (MacDonald) Delaney

Sydney On Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, Theresa passed peacefully at the CND Care Centre, Sydney, into the hands of the God she so faithfully served. Born in Sydney's 'North End', she was the daughter of the late Michael B. and Johanna (MacCormack) MacDonald. A graduate of Holy Angels High School, Theresa was a devoted parishioner of St. Theresa's, a valued choir member and an associate of the Congregation of Notre Dame. For many years, she served as president of the parish CWL and later as secretary at the diocesan level. This past May, she was honoured with a 40-year pin for her years of dedication to the organization. Predeceased this past August by her husband, Alphonse 'Diddles,' she is survived by two sons, Bob (Colleen), Rhode Island, John (Susan), Halifax; and five grandchildren, Lenora, Lennan, Andrew, Nicole, Lisa; two brothers, Jim (Muriel), Ottawa, Bernie, Sydney; and three sisters, Elizabeth (Malcolm) MacQueen, Dominion, Kaye (Pat) Ryan, Ottawa, and St. Carmelita MacDonald, CND, Holy Angels Convent, Sydney. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Joe, John Hugh and Vincent, and one sister, Refina. Visitation will take place on Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Eucharistic celebration will take place at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church, Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Reception to follow in the parish hall. Donations may be made to the CND Health Care Centre or to the charity of one's choice.
