55, New Waterford It is with great sorrow that we, the family of Lillian Pheifer, announce her passing on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Waterford, Dec. 24, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Harold 'Bonnie' Hulme and Gladys Hulme. Lillian is survived by her loving husband, Thomas; daughter, Cindi (Nelson) Quirk, Ottawa, Ont.; and her son, Robert (Melysa), Edmonton, Alta.; grandchildren, Victoria Quirk and Rory and Cierra Pheifer. She is also survived by sisters, Ruth (Doug) Dupe, New Waterford and Darlene (Donald) Muise, Winnipeg, Man.; brothers, William (Florence) Hulme and Scott (Arlene MacEachern), New Waterford; along with several nieces and nephews. Lillian is also survived by sisters-in-law, Ulean (Wilfred) McNeil and Debbie (Carl) Brewer and brother-in-law, Joseph (Joey) Pheifer, all of New Waterford. Besides her father, Lillian was predeceased by her son, Douglas, and her father-in-law, Rudy Pheifer and mother-in-law, Marie (Pheifer) O'Brien and her husband Mick O'Brien. She was also predeceased by sisters-in-law, Helen and her husband Robert (Bobby) Lewis as well as Marlene Pheifer and brothers-in-law, Douglas and Robert Pheifer. Lil's greatest joys in life were her family and spending time at their bungalow in Guysborough. Everyone was always welcome there to spend a weekend of laughter and stories and a good cup of tea. She was employed with Catalog Teleservices Company (Speigel) in New Waterford for the past several years. Visitation for Lillian will take place at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, today (Monday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service officiated by Rev. Vernon Reid will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at All Saint's Anglican Church, New Waterford. Cremation to follow with burial in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown at a later date. Lillian will be taken to the church at noon time on Tuesday. Donations may be made to the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or All Saint's Anglican Church, New Waterford.
