
RENEE LORRAINE CURTIS
CURTIS, RENEE LORRAINE - Renée Lorraine Curtis of Halifax and Shediac Cape, died peacefully at the Villa Providence, Shediac on Sunday, October 4th, 2009, one day after her late husband's birthday. The daughter of Zilla LeBlanc and Charles Blackmun, Renée was born in Moncton on June 18th, 1923 and was raised on Park Street. She met her husband, William (Billy) Henry Curtis, when he was in Moncton learning to be a pilot for WWII. Renée traveled to England and was married in Hartlepool on February 15th, 1947. After a stint in England, she and Billy moved back to Moncton in 1952 and then unto Halifax in 1957. In 1975, Renée and Billy moved back to New Brunswick and she lived in Shediac Cape until the end of her days. Renée worked in many professions, from clerk to teacher, and she was a constant volunteer, in the church, in the community, and finally as a hospice worker after the death of her husband Billy. Renée had a dry sense of humour, a caring heart, and could always find the good in any situation. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, the theatre and live music. Renée is survived by her son, Christopher with his wife, JoAnne and her daughter, Catherine with her husband, Steve. She has seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Eileen, Lori Anne, Andrew, Jon, William, and Christopher and five great-grandchildren, Alexander, Julia, Brayden, Sarah, and Jane Renëe. She is predeceased by her husband, Billy, her brother, Alison and her sister, Bertille. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. There will be a family gathering in Halifax to commem-orate her busy and fulfilling life. Her last volunteer work was with Hospice Shediac (506-532-8598) and donations in her memory to this organisation would be much appreciated.
