SIMPSON, CINDY L. - 1958-2009 - Cindy L. Simpson, 51, of Hillsborough passed away on Sunday, October 25th, 2009 at the home of her sister, Ellen, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Calgary, AB on May 10, 1958 the daughter of Austin and Joan (Steeves) Douthwright. Cindy was a member of the Albert Mines Baptist Church. She was a long time secretary for the RCMP, Hillsborough detachment. Cindy was very community minded. Through her position with the RCMP she was instrumental in the building of the community swimming pool, of which she was also administrator of for several years. Cindy was very active with the area Veterans for many years, bringing the remembrance day ceremonies into the Hillsborough school. She loved to collect antiques and was proud of her many treasures. She was also a member of the Hillsborough Softball League, playing on the winning team. She was a special lady and will live on in the hearts of her family forever. She will be deeply missed by her parents, Austin and Joan Douthwright; longtime friend, Louie Bourgeois; her daughter, Melissa Simpson; her son, Jeremy Simpson; sisters, Joy Snelgrove (Donny), Ellen Beal (Craig) and Shelley Douthwright all of the Hillsborough area and brother, Terry Douthwright (Cathy) of Lake Utopia, NB. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Honouring Cindy's own wishes there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at the Albert Mines Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 at 2:00pm with Rev. Jack Allen officiating. Interment will be held in the Albert Mines Baptist Cemetery. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for further fellowship, sharing of memories and for refreshments in the church. For those who wish donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital-Palliative Care Unit or to the Moncton Red Cross would be greatly appreciated by the family. The family would like to say a special thanks to the palliative care staff, extra mural nurses,caregivers and to the Moncton Red Cross for all the care and support given. It will never be forgotten.
