SIDNIE GEORGENA RUTHERFORD
RUTHERFORD, SIDNIE GEORGENA - Sidnie Georgena Rutherford's loving family walked her home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Her courageous spirit and positive attitude were a blessing to all who knew her throughout her three and a half year battle with cancer. Born in Bible Hill, NS on November 15, 1933, she lived in Truro, Dartmouth, North Sydney and for the past 36 years in Riverview, NB. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, she will be remembered for her love and strength, her kindness and compassion and for her positive and encouraging spirit. She was quietly and consistently involved in church ministries, an amazing homemaker who loved sharing time with her family. She loved to cook and her kitchen was always open to one and all. She was a talented artist, an avid seamstress, needleworker and gardener. Cherished memories will be held close by her family and many friends, especially the "Truro Gang" and the "Coffee Girls". She was welcomed into heaven by her mother and father, Olive and Pat Cox and two brothers, Terry and Phillip Cox. Looking forward to seeing her again are her devoted and loving husband of 56 years, Don Rutherford and her four daughters and their families, Heidi and David, Nicholas, Benjamin and Brittany Ross; Wendy and Ian, Jaylee and Trenton Macdonald; Leslie and Maurice, Danielle and Jillian Maillet; Becky, Brian and Aiden Murphy; her brother, Doug Cox, as well as numerous other relatives. An invitation is extended to visit the family at Cobb's Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Friday, October 30, from 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of Sidnie's life will be held at Cobb's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Saturday, October 31 at 1 pm, with Pastor David Way officiating. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Assi, Dr. Mansfield, Darlene, Candace, Linda and the staff of the Oncology Department and Palliative Care Unit of the Moncton Hospital, for their compassionate care and understanding.
