MAHONEY, GERTRUDE A. - Gertrude A. Mahoney, 92, of The Briarlea, and formerly of People's Park Tower, Moncton, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Born in Kedgwick, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Isabella (MacDonald) Mahoney. Gertrude attended St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the C.W.L. She was a former member of St. Augustine's Senior's Club and the Moncton Lions Senior Citizens Club. Gertrude was an excellent cook who enjoyed traveling to Ontario and England to visit her daughters, going on bus tours, playing cards (200 and 45's), knitting, crocheting, tapestry, music, crossword puzzles and spending precious time with her family. Gertrude will be sadly missed by her daughters, Valerie Lennox (Ernie), England and Linda Abbott, London, ON; grandchildren, Andrew, Natalie, Lindsey; several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dwight G. Mahoney (1987); sisters, Kathleen, Mary, Margaret, Isabel, Patricia and Sister Martha Michael; brothers, John and Rev. Bernard Broderick. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass, St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Friday, November 13, 2009, 9:30 am, Rev. Yvon Arsenault officiating. Reception in the Parish Hall following the Mass.
