LEO POIRIER

POIRIER, LEO - At the Miramichi Hospital on Monday, November 16th, 2009, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 79, passed away Leo Poirier, loving husband of Jeannine Arseneault for 50 years. Born July 3rd, 1930, he was the son of the late Basile Poirier and the late Philomene LeBlanc. As well as his wife, he will be sadly missed by his two daughters : Lise (Paul) Gallant from Rogersville and Paulette (Scott Webster) Poirier from North Tay; three grandchildren: Annie (Serge) Arseneault, Karine (Julien) Robichaud both from Rogersville and Arlynn Poirier-Webster from North Tay; one loving great granddaughter Véronique Arseneault; three sisters: Rosalie (late Alderic) Caissie, Lorraine (Francois) Richard both from St-Hubert QC and Therese Poirier from Rogersville; our brothers: Jean-Baptiste (Mona), Fernand (Alma) both from Rogersville, Rheal (Annette) from Chambly QC and Arthur (Marie) from Musquash NB; one sister in law, Rita (late Emile) Poirier, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mr Poirier was predeceased by one daughter, baby Marie; two brothers: Jean-Paul and Emile and one sister, Therese. In his professional career, Leo was Postmaster in Rogersville as well as Commissioner of Oaths until his retirement. All his life Leo has been a man of heart with a large faith, generous and devoted for his family and his community. Leo was actively involved in different organism like Acadian Credit Union, volunteer and member of the Rogersville Foyer Assomption administration council, parish council, marriage encounter, Cursillos, Canadian Red Cross Society, St John ambulance, Notre-Dame de l'Assomption National Monument, sport club, golden age club, Royal Canadian Legion and the Tree of Hope. The family will be receiving relatives and friends, at the Salon 'La Colombe', 11325, road 126 in Rogersville, Wednesday, November 18th, 2009, at 2pm. The funeral service will be held at the Saint-Francois-de-Sales RC Church in Rogersville, Thursday, November 19th, 2009 at 3pm. Visiting hours: Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9 pm and Thursday from 1pm until the departure for the funeral service. At the family request, donation can be made to the Three of Hope.
