STEEVES, BURNELL K. - Burnell K. Steeves, 96, of Spencer Memorial Home, and formerly of Cavendish Road, Moncton, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Born in Hillsborough, he was the son of the late Royden and Elma (Dot) (Terris) Steeves. Burnell was a retired employee of Modern Enterprises Ltd. with 23 years service, a former partner in Bells Food Market, Moncton and a former journeyman mechanic with Noorduyn Aviation, Montreal. A graduate of Aberdeen High School, he was a former member of Highfield Baptist Church, a member of First Baptist Church, a choir member (over 50 years), former Sunday School Teacher and Church Deacon and served his church in various other capacities. Burnell was a former member of the Gospel Male Chorus, the Bicentennial Skating Club and the Moncton Toastmasters Club. He was an avid model railroad enthusiast, enjoyed skating, quilting and time with his family at the cottage in Edgewater. Burnell will be sadly missed by his daughters, Marvin Smith (late Ferd) and Joyce Moynagh (Mike), Lower Coverdale; sons, Gerald (Jerry) (Donna), Brunswick, Georgia; Dean, Vancouver, BC and Clifford (Kathy), Riverview; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lavinia (Vinie) (Mollins) Steeves (1988) and brothers, Donald and Wade.
