ROMKEY, MARIE IRENE - Greenwood/Crescent Beach - Marie Irene Romkey, 96 of Greenwood, formerly of Crescent Beach, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16th, 2010, at Grandview Manor, Berwick, NS. Born in Bridgewater, NS, she was the daughter of the late James & Arleen Leslie. Marie was Post Mistress in Crescent Beach from 1947 to 1959. She also worked in Creasor's Factory, G.E. Romkey/Risser's General Store in West Dublin. For many years, she was a loyal member of West Dublin United Church taking part in the Choir, Sunday School and the UCW. She was a lady of many talents which included gardening, quilting, sewing, and over the years, loved the company of her cats. Marie was a kind-hearted "Lady" - her special times were family reunions when all her three sons were together with their families. Marie was predeceased by husband Grant Vincent and infant daughter Sharon Marie. Marie was a devoted mother to Bob (Doreen), David (Carol), Reid (Karen) and daughter-in-law Betty Romkey. She was a loving grandmother, (Nannie), to Tom (Karen), Heather (Denis), Cheryl (Geoff), David, Michael, Tracey (Tim), Grant (Terri), Beth (Don), Angie (Scott) & Anissa. Marie also had 18 great-grandchildren. She was a special Aunt to Janet (Doug) MacDonald & Doug (Linda) Romkey. In accordance with her wishes, Marie will be cremated and a remembrance service will be held in West Dublin United Church, with interment in the Romkey Cemetery at Crescent Beach in May 2010. Donations in Marie's memory may be made to West Dublin United Church or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Dr. Paul McGuire, Dr. Peter Goddard, Cathy Best and all the care givers at Grandview Manor, Rainforth/Wagner Unit for the wonderful care they gave Marie during her stay there.
