CAISSIE, NORMAND - Normand Caissie, 78, of Grande Digue passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton following a lengthy illness. Born May 28, 1931 in Cocagne Cape, he was the son of the late Honoré and Rosanne (Bourque) Caissie. Normand will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorice (Hébert) Caissie and their three children, Cécile Caissie (Donald Boudreau) of Grand Barachois, Gérard (Yvonne) and Fernand (Gisèle) both of Cocagne Cape; eight grand- children: Gaston, Marielle, Jessica, Melissa, Tanya, Natasha, Marius, Maxime, three step grand children: Joanna, Florent and Gaston; four great grandchildren: Xavier, Zacharie, Emma, Danie; five step grandchildren: Callum, Jacob, Tiegan, Ruby and Mikheal, and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Généva Boucher. Prior to his retirement, Normand was a Firefighter with the Department of Transport at the Moncton Airport and co-owner of Caissie Poutine in Cocagne Cape. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 7535 Pascal Poirier of Grande Digue. He enjoyed driving his tractor, working in his greenhouse and delivering for Caissie Grocery Store. The family will receive relatives and friends at Frenette Funeral Home Ltd., 396 Main St., Shediac (532-3297) on Thursday, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and Friday, from 9:30 am until time of departure. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11 am at La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande Digue. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.
