ENSZ - Mary Hilda (nee Schaitel), long time resident of the Neidpath area, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord at the Herbert Nursing Home on February 20, 2010, at the age of 94. Mary is survived by her daughter Marilyn and son-in-law Douglas Heid of Herbert, SK; three grandchildren Kerry (Pam) Heid of Regina, SK, Cheryl (Jarret) Solberg of Craven, SK and Tammy Reed of Regina, SK; seven treasured great grandchildren Brendan and Colby Heid, Megan, Jamie and Rachel Solberg, and Hunter and Madison Reed; one sister Lorraine (Sidney) Buller of Hodgeville; one sister-in-law Tena Craddock of Campbell River, BC; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Ottilie (Becker) Schaitel, her husband Wilbert Ensz, brothers Alfred (Cora) Schaitel, Adolf (Lorraine) Schaitel, Harvey (Agnes) Schaitel, Paul (Peg) Schaitel and sister Ruby (Walter) Ensz. Mary was born on May 28, 1915 and was raised on the family farm south of Morse. She received her education at the Ensz School, but in the 1930s had to fore-go her dream of becoming a nurse as the times were very difficult. In 1940, she married her long time school sweetheart Wilbert Ensz. They made their first home in Neidpath until Bert was called to the army in 1942. For the next 2 years she worked in a laundry in Victoria, BC until they moved back to Neidpath in 1944. In the fall they welcomed their only daughter Marilyn. They continued to farm until the spring of 1951 when they moved to Pipestone, MB to farm. After 5 years they returned to Neidpath to take over his brother Bill's farm. They remained there until 1977 when they bought a house in Swift Current and continued to farm from the city. After Wilbert's passing in 1984, Mary continued her passion for her gardening and yardwork. She was known for having the most beautiful flowers and tended them with great care. She was also very active with the church and was surrounded by many friends and family who loved being with her. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 24th, at 2:00 PM at the Community Baptist Church in Swift Current, SK with Pastor Joell Haugen officiating. A private family burial will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Swift Current, SK. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at the Herbert Nursing Home.
