New Glasgow - Edward Filmore Bowden, age 66, of Robertson St., New Glasgow, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 at home.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late John Edward and Abuellias (Jewell) Bowden.
Ed was a dedicated salesman in the furniture, electronics and appliances industry for 45 years; a board member of the Pictou County District Health Authority; Life Member of the Kinsmen Club of New Glasgow; former Deacon in the First and Second United Baptist Churches, New Glasgow; inductee of the Pictou County Sports Heritage Hall of Fame for his 40 year involvement in the Kinsmen Power Skating Program; an avid runner; and very active in the musical community in Pictou County throughout his life.
He is survived by daughter: Michelle Bowden, Halifax; son: Edward (Shelley), New Glasgow; grandson Cooper; sister: Sheila (Bruce) Clyke, Truro; brothers: Dennis (Darlene), New Glasgow; Brian (Brenda), New Glasgow; Peter (Karen), Halifax; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sunday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 pm Monday in First Presbyterian Church New Glasgow with Rev. Rhonda Britton officiating assisted by Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery at a later date.
