Johnson, Evelyn Lillian
Surrounded by her family, the death of Evelyn Lillian Johnson, age 75, wife of Floyd A. Johnson of Saint John, NB, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Friday, February 26, 2010. She was born at Cambridge-Narrows, NB, on December 18, 1934, the daughter of late Albert and Beatrice (Lovely) Straight.
Following graduation from high school, she served with the American Armed Forces, and then worked in nursing homes in California and Virginia. She returned to New Brunswick to work in Saint John hospitals as an Occupational Therapist. She loved her home on the bank of the St. John River. Evelyn was an avid gardener with a passion for flowers.
Evelyn is survived by her husband Floyd; step-children Michael (Susan) Johnson, Deborah (Ken) Daley and Susan Duguay; step-grandchildren Michael, Meagan, Jennifer, Christopher, Nita and Natalie; step-great grandchildren Alex, Kayla and Justin; sisters Jean (Harold) Perry of Saint John, and Cora Johnson of Cherry Hill; brothers Allan (Jackie) Straight, John (June) Straight and Jim Straight all of Cambridge-Narrows, Stephen (Doris) Straight of Bagdad, Robert (Cathy) Straight and Charles Straight of Youngs Cove; Aunt Marjorie Thompson of Ontario; brothers-in-law Franklin (Louise) Johnson and Bob Johnson; sister-in-law Thelma (Ross) McConchie; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. She was predeceased by brother-in-law Raymond Johnson.
She is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, on Sunday, from 5 to 8 p.m. A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held from Sherwood’s Chapel at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, March 1, 2010. Interment will be in First Cambridge Baptist Cemetery later in the spring.
