1921-2010 - M. F. Keith Leighton of Moncton, passed away with family by his side at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, February 27th, 2010. Born in Moncton, NB on February 12th, 1921 he was the son of the late Dr. George T. and Blanche (Keith) Leighton. He attended Moncton High School before serving with the Royal Canadian Navy in the Second World War. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick with his Bachelor of Engineering and enjoyed a long career with CNR, working in Moncton, St. John’s, Toronto and London. Keith loved spending his summers at the shore and will be missed by his extended Pointe-du-Chêne family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean (Millar); his children Ann Irving (William), Tom (Sandra), Paulina Oulton (Kenneth), his grandchildren Edward (Sandra Bach), Jane, and Gillian Irving; his sister-in-law Laura Leighton; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Anna and brother Claude.
Visitation will take place at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon March 2nd, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a Legion Service at 3:50 pm on Tuesday. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 3rd at 2:00 pm at St. George’s Anglican Church, 51Church Street Moncton. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to the IWK, the Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation or a memorial of the donor's choice. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery. The family would like to thank The Reverend Chris VanBuskirk for his support and Extra Mural Driscoll Nursing for their wonderful care.
