It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our youngest brother, Gerard at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Monday, March 1, 2010, after a lengthy illness.
Gerard worked for many years in the hospitality business at the Banff Springs Hotel before returning to Sydney.
Gerard is survived by his sisters, Mary (Peter Nymark), Lower Sackville and Sue Gillis (Paul Jobe), Sydney; brothers, Stephen (JoAnne) and Paul, both of Sydney; nieces, Krista (Chad Vandenbrink), Red Deer, Alta. and Kristen Floyd, Sydney; nephews, Kevin (Natalie) Nymark, Hammonds Plains, Stephen Floyd Jr., Halifax, Sandy and James Gillis, Sydney.
He was predeceased by his parents, Larry and Anna Floyd and brother, Lawrence.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. There will be no visitation. A celebration of Gerard’s life will be held Wednesday 10 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church, Whitney Ave., with Rev. James Oliver officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
Many thanks to the doctors who attended to Gerard’s needs over the last few months, especially the nurses and staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
