73, New Waterford It is with great sadness the family wish to announce the passing of their husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on Dec. 24, 2008, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Waterford, Danny was the son of the late James and Sarah (Layman) Campbell. Danny was a miner for 40 years, working in 16, 12, 26 and Lingan, was an active member of the Army, Navy and Airforce, Unit 217, was an avid cribbage player, loved bingo and darts. He also looked forward to his yearly trips to Newfoundland. Danny is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Campbell); sons, Kenny (Cathy), New Waterford, and Michael (Laura), Fort McMurray; daughters, Dorothy (Paul) Kraft, Ontario, Cheryl-Ann (John Wayne) Steiger, New Waterford, and Heather (Michael) Hurley, Saskatchewan; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Winnie Gatza, Whycocomagh, Marion (Doug) MacDonald, New Waterford; brother, Leo, New Waterford; sisters-in-law, Sadie, Susan, Rena and Pauline; and brother-in-law, Bunnie Oliver, also a very, very good friend, Bert Grace. Besides his parents, Danny was also predeceased by brothers, Gerald, Art and Leo Ambrose, sister, Dorothy and a daughter in infancy. Visitation for Danny will take place Tuesday, Dec. 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3813 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, N.S., 862-7500. The Knights of Columbus are requested to meet at the funeral home Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 7:30 p.m. for prayers. A funeral mass to celebrate Danny's life will take place Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard/Mt. Carmel Church, with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Army, Navy and Airforce, Unit 217, Smith St., New Waterford, all are invited.
