Angela Taylor, 93, Sydney Mines passed away March 3, 2010, at the Northside General Hospital with family by her side.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late William and Sarah Bonnar.
In her early years Angela was employed with the British Canadian Cooperative, Sydney Mines, and was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Canadian Navy. She was a member of Breton Branch 8, Royal Canadian Legion, Sydney Mines. She was a founding member of the Snowden Terrace Housing Group in the early 1950s and resided there until her death.
Angela was predeceased by her loving husband, Alfred Taylor Sr., an infant great-granddaughter, Georgia Davis, Fredericton, N.B., and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Angela (Melvin), Baddeck; her sons, Alfred Jr., Sydney Mines, Curt (Carol), Beaver Bank, Paul (Margaret Ann), North Sydney, and Joseph (Louise), Georges River; her sisters, Casilda Gillis, New Waterford, Theresa Jardine, Sydney Mines, Camillus Roth, Florida, Patricia MacKenzie, Boston, Mass., and Kay, Kitchener, Ont. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Thanks to Dr. Michel McKeough for providing many years of excellent medical care. A special thank you to Margaret-Ann who devoted so much of her time to care for our mother in such a loving, caring manner. And last of all ‘thanks mom’ for instilling in us your sense of humour.
There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. Burial at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
