Richard, Irenée (René) (1928-2010) - Irenée Richard, 81, of Richibucto, originally of Acadieville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 4th, 2010 at the Villa Maria, St.-Louis-de-Kent. Born in Acadieville, he was the son of the late Edmond and Josephine (Chevarie) Richard. Before retiring, Irenée worked for the Department of Transportation, and also worked as a farmer and at the Saint John port. Irenée attended and offered his services at the St.-Louis-de-Gonzague church, Richibucto, he was a member of the Richibucto Golden Age club, and also volunteered his time at the Villa Maria. Irenée will be sadly missed by his four daughters; Claudette Robichaud (Gilles) of St.-Louis, Dorine Savoie (Al) of Grand-Barachois, Yvette Hebert (Raymond) of St. Charles, and Jeannita Vautour (Paul) of St. Charles, his three sons; Gérard (Diane) of Acadieville, Maurice (Irene) of Moncton, and Ronald (Raymonde) of Dieppe, his 14 grandchildren; Daniel, Charles, Anne, Stéphane, Charlene, Louis-René, François, Jean-Yves, Marc, Sylvie, Maryse, Louise, Philippe, and Jérémie, eight sisters; Bertha Richard (late Médard) of St.-Antoine, Thérèse Richard (Livain) of Collette, Éliza Babineau (Albert) of Richibucto Village, Gemma Cormier (late Eymard) of Bouctouche, Anna Cormier (Léandre) of Gardner, Massachusetts, Germaine Daigle (late Joseph) of Acadieville, Florine Richard (late Gaston) of Gardner, Massachusetts, and Marie Leblanc (Yvon) of Templeton, Massachusetts, two brothers; Nazaire (Dorice) of Gardner, Massachusetts, and Adélard (Geneva) of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, as well as many nieces and nephews. Other than by his parents, Irenée was predeceased by his first wife; Irène Vautour, his second wife; Yvonne Richard, two grandchildren; Angela and Denis, his sister; Eva Richard, and his sister-in-law; Rose-Eva Richard.
Irenée will be resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Sunday from 2PM to 4PM and from 7PM to 9PM and on Monday from noon until departure for the funeral. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 8th 2010 at 2PM at the St. Louis-de-Gonzague Roman Catholic Church, Richibucto. Cremation will follow with interment in the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery, Acadieville in the spring. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB, or to the Villa Maria would be appreciated by the family.
