RICKETTS, Winnifred Anastasia (Maddox) – Kings Cove. It is with great sadness that the family of Winnie Ricketts announces her passing on Thursday, March 4, 2010 after a short illness. Winnie was born June 13, 1934 in King’s Cove, Newfoundland. She married Joseph Ricketts in 1961 and they spent their early married life in Labrador City. They eventually returned to the place their hearts were, King’s Cove, in 1983. Winnie was predeceased by her husband, Joseph (Joe) of Knights Cove, two infant children and sister Catherine Brennan of Summerville. She will be forever lovingly remembered by her children Joanne Maloney (Paul) of Pouch Cove, Michael (Brenda) of Lewisporte, Craig (Pam) of Portugal Cove, Chris (Karen) of St. John’s, Sean (Wanda) of Torbay, Dale (Lisa) of Bonavista, Derek (Laurie) of Torbay and Shannon (Amy) of Torbay as well as 8 grandchildren - Justin Maloney, Tony Ricketts, Susan Ricketts, Meghan and Courtney Abbott, Daley Ricketts and Hannah and Joel Ricketts. She is also survived by her sisters Rose Aylward of Goose Bay, Loretta Maloney (Felix) of Summerville and brother John Maddox (Rita) of King’s Cove, as well as many nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Winnie will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her gentle manner and kind heart touched everyone. The funeral will be held Monday, March 8th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s and Paul’s RC Church, King’s Cove, followed by the interment at the cemetery. Visitation will take place at the church on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
