Thomas “Tom” W. McCleary, 75, of Moncton, with his family at his side, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. Born in Harcourt, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Genevieve (Paschal) McCleary. Tom was a former employee of the Unemployment Insurance Commission and attended St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church. Tom had a great sense of humour and loved to tell jokes. He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, fishing and hunting, playing cards (“9” and Bingo), summer holiday trips to PEI and New Hampshire and spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tom will be sadly missed by his wife of over 52 years, Lea (Basque) McCleary; children, Tom Jr. (Carol), Bernice Basque and Zoel McCleary, all of Moncton; grandchildren, Darryll (Katie), Steven (Lisa), Gregory (Jen); great grandchildren, Vanessa, Dawson and Hunter; special nephew, Ricky McCleary, Riverview; special little friend, Griffen Estey; brothers, Walter (Jeannine), Moncton and Kermit, Toronto; sisters, Eileen McAdam (Earl), Pennfield, Geraldine Lavoie (Frank), Cassilis, Jeannine Richardson, Deer Island, Laverne Wilson, Riverview, Beryl McCleary, Moncton; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth and his sister, Ramona.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Saturday, 7 to 9 pm and Sunday, 2 to 4, 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass, St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Monday, March 15, 2010, 10:30 am, Rev. Yvon Arsenault officiating. Reception following the Mass.
