Eldon Alexander Machum of North Bend, Oregon, passed away on February 25, 2010, at the age of 87. He was born March 16, 1922, in New Jerusalem, Queens County, N.B., son of the late Harry Alexander and Annie Ida (Kirkpatrick) Machum. He grew up in Browns Flat, N.B., where he graduated from high school. In 1942 Eldon joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, became a pilot, and finished the war as a flight instructor. He moved to Oregon and joined Burroughs Business Machines where he remained until his retirement in 1982. His sharp mind, quick humor and kind heart will be missed by all. Eldon was predeceased by his wife, Laura (Henderson), in July 1978. They were married for 26 years. He is survived by daughter, Sheryl Nyleen of North Bend, Oregon; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Dan Burkhalter of Sherwood, Oregon; four grandchildren, Julie Tracy, Joseph Nyleen, Evan Nyleen and Adam Nyleen; one great-grandchild, Johnathan Tracy; sisters, Mary Baker (Henry) of Kingston, Ontario, and Verna Kirk of Saint John, N.B.; brother, Royden Machum of Kanata, Ontario; special friend, Bonnie Hydes of Delta, B.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Eldon was also predeceased by brother, Ronald, and sister, Evelyn.
