Mary A. Butts, 82, of Country Care Special Care Home, Intervale, N.B. and formerly of Moncton, N.B., passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, March 12, 2010.
Born in Glace Bay, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Angus and Mae McLean. Mary was a former kindergarten teacher, a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, the CWL, a former choir member and a former volunteer for the Canadian Diabetes Association. She enjoyed watching figure skating on television, was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and spending time with her family.
Mary will be sadly missed by her daughter, Mary-Anne Lavoie (Pat Lewis), Petitcodiac and son, Tom Anderson (Gaye), Victoria, B.C.; grandchildren, Jonathan, Nicole, Christina; sisters, Marjorie Petite and Isabel Bowen-McLean, both of Glace Bay, N.S.; brother, Murdock (Joan), Summerside, P.E.I.; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, M. Thomas ‘Tom’ Butts (2005) and a sister, Viola.
In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no visitation hours. Funeral Mass, Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Moncton, N.B., Monday, March 15, 2010, 11 a.m., Rev. Phil Mulligan officiating. Interment, Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, N.B.
