Matthew Enos Sampson, 64, died March 8, 2010, while visiting in Florida.
Born Feb. 1, 1946, in Sydney Mines, he was the son of Enver Sampson Sr. and Genevieve (MacLellan) Sampson.
He is survived as well by his daughter, Kimberly (Bradley) Cullen; son, Christopher and grandchildren, Daniel, Nicole, Baily and Samatha and his brother, Brett.
Matt was predeceased by his brother, Enver Jr. in 1985.
He joined the Queen’s Guard at 17 years of age and served overseas in Cypress (peacekeeping duties) in 1963. He was also an avid member of Florence Legion, Branch 83.
Cremation has taken place in Hamilton, Ont. with a service to be held in Sydney at a later date.
