NEW GLASGOW – Elgin Austin Allan, age 76, of Spring St., New Glasgow, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, at home.
Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Smith) Allan.
He owned and operated a shoe repair business in Antigonish for many years. He then worked in Fort Saint James at a sawmill until his retirement, moving to New Glasgow to be close to his sisters and family.
He is survived by sisters: Nora Polley, Trenton; Doris Vinall, Hamilton, Ont.; nieces and nephews: Alfred, Ronnie and Nancy Polley; Robert, Janet and Mary Burns; Wally and Billy Vinall; and their families.
He was predeceased by sisters, Ruby Burns and Mary Stapleton.
Visitation 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Debra Orton officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.
