With much sorrow we announce the passing of Lt. Col. Anthony Robert Povey Walters on Monday March 15th. Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Paula, son Brian, daughter Tami and granddaughters Oresa & Hayley. He was pre-deceased by his parents Herbert & Audrey Walters, his brother Robin Walters & his dog Cosco. Tony was born in Newport, Wales on June 15, 1945 & moved to Canada at the age of 11. He proudly served his country in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves from 1964-1996 when he retired as Commanding Officer of the Rocky Mountain Rangers. For the past 35 years Tony has worked with the Forestry service as a Regional Engineering Technician building roads, bridges & pioneering the implementation of GPS use. He was a member of the High Country Flyers & a charter member of ASTT. The memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Cathedral, 360 Nicola St, Kamloops at 2:30pm on Sunday March 21, 2010. Reception to follow. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Rocky Mountain Rangers Museum.
