It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Lorraine passed away March 17, 2010 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Bras d’Or, she was the daughter of the late Enos and Jane (Conway) Sampson. Before her retirement, Lorraine worked for many years at the old Bras d’Or Co-op. She loved going to the Bras d’Or Pensioners Club and enjoying the company of her may friends. She looked forward to her Wednesday lunches at Nelida’s and spending time with her family. Lorraine was an avid reader, loved fiddle music and her garden. She liked to fish, play cards and watch Blue Jays games. She especially enjoyed the antics of her cat Sam and her grand dog Eddie. she loved listening to the stories from her grandchildren about their many escapades. She will be sadly missed at family gatherings. She loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humour.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Doreen ‘Biagi’ and her son-in-law, David Campbell, Bras d’Or; her son, Dennis Boudreau, Bras d’Or; her granddaughters, Jennifer Campbell (Shamus Dearing), Halifax, Andrea Campbell, Halifax and Christina Forrest, Bras d’Or; her sisters, Patricia (Urban) Day, Bras d’Or, Olive (Braw) Fraser, Sydney Mines, Doreen (Jack) MacPhail, Ontario and Carlyn (Keith) Voutier, Bras d’Or; her brothers, Enos (Bernadette) Sampson Jr., Lower Sackville and Arthur (Judy) Sampson, Ontario and her many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dominique Boudreau; her brothers, Ambrose and two brothers in infancy.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. A gathering will take place after mass in the Bras d’Or Hall.
Donations in Lorraine’s memory may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital ICU, St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or or a charity of choice.
