Hanington - Mr. Gerald Hanington of Wickham formerly of Salisbury passed away at his residence on March 18, 2010 at the age of 86. Born in Saint John on May 16, 1923, he was the son of the late William Hanington and Zora Alward Hanington -Brailey. Gerald is survived by his sister, Marion Stackhouse and her husband James of Long Creek, his nieces: Diane Stackhouse of Cambridge Narrows, June Palmer of Long Creek, Faye McCormack and her husband Duncan of Cambridge Narrows and Ida Stackhouse of Fredericton; his nephews: Roy Stackhouse of Dartmouth and Lee Stackhouse and his wife Margaret of Iowa, USA; as well as several great nieces and nephews. Gerald was predeceased by his stepfather- Ron Brailey. Gerald served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Whitehorse and upon his retirement he became a car salesman and Bookeeper in Moncton. He was a man who had a love for knowledge and reading. He would read anything he could get his hands on, from fiction to instructional manuals.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 2:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Gerald’s life held from Wallace Community Chapel at 3:00 pm. The interment will take place at Shediac Cape Cemetery in the spring. Donations made to The Peoples Serenity Garden would be appreciated by the family.
