Earl Gouchie

It is with great sadness the family of Earl (Earlie) Charles Gouchie 93, of Amherst announce his passing on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Cumberland Regional Heath Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS.
Born in Nappan, he was a son of the late Archie and Isabelle (MacDonald) Gouchie.
A veteran of WW II, Earl served overseas with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 10.
Earl worked for Sifto Salt in Nappan for many years and was also know for his carpentry skills around Cumberland County.
Earl is survived by three daughters Earlene (Leon) Brown and Karen (Tommy) Reid both of Amherst and Carolyn Dupuis of Hamilton, ON, three sons Pat (Faye) of Grand Prairie, Alberta and Danny (Jenny) and Jackie (Sue) both of Edmonton, Alberta; 15 grandchildren Michael, Darren, Lisa, Jody, Cathy, Robbie, Jason, Denise, Jason, Jennifer, Nicky, Lori, Caitlin, Ryker and Amanda; 16 great grandchildren Danielle, Erica, Alyssa, Noelle, Megan, Haley, Dominique, Kristine, Samantha, Hope, Samantha, Ethan, Franklin, Charlie, Leander and Josh; great great grandaughter, Nevaeh; one sister Nellie Shannon of Amherst and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife the former Kathleen Burke, son Darrell, grandson Paul Ripley, great grandson, Lucas Chapman; three brothers, Cecil, Albert, John and three sisters Annie LeBlanc, Lena Lines and Janet Morris.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10 will hold their tribute service at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Holy Family Parish, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall.
Interment will take place at a later date in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst.
Memorial donations in Earl's memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 10 Poppy Fund or charity of your choice.
