77, Sydney It is with deep regret that we, the family announce the passing of Floyd Stone on Jan. 19, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Corner Brook, N.L., he was the son of the late Malcolm and Eliza (Marsh) Stone. Served overseas, stationed in Germany as a gunner in the infantry. He was employed at the Cape Breton Hospital, retiring after 28 years of service. Floyd was a giant fan of the Blue Jays. Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Erna, (Bombeck) Stone; his children, June Stone (Wade), St. John's, N.L., Linda Stone (Derek), Sydney, Ellen Serroul, Sydney Mines, Rachel Stone (Tom), Calgary, Alta., Malcolm (Donna), Calgary, Bill (Karen), Calgary, Robert (Jenny), Point Edward. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara MacDonald, Betty (Johnny) Miles and Bertha Stone; brothers, Malcolm (Marge), Raymond 'Bim', Harvey (Ann) and Bernard (Cathy); his seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Floyd was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Medina and one brother, Aubrey. Visitation will take place Wednesday, Jan. 21 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney at 1 p.m., one hour prior to service time at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Sheldon Chant officiating.
