83, Marion Bridge Clarence Howard Richardson, 83, a resident of Marion Bridge, passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. A veteran of the Second World War, Clarence served with the Merchant Marine. He retired from Sydney Steel, where he worked in the mobile department. Clarence enjoyed his retirement years, spending time hunting and fishing, which he loved. Surviving are his daughters, Rose (Wilfred), Barrie, Ont., Jane (George), Edmonton, Alta., Sandra (Bill), Manitoba, and Carol (Darrin), Sydney; sons, Donnie (Debbie), Westmount, Jim (Elizabeth), Oshawa, Ont., and Bill (Susana), Texas; sisters, Leona (Rene), Whitehead, and Anna May, Brampton, Ont.; brother, Doug (Daisy), Whitehead; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and special friend, Gladys White. Clarence was predeceased by his son, Leonard and sister, Odessa. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Thursday at 2 p.m., with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clarence's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
