CROCKER, Richard Eaton "Dick" — Of E-Wing, Tidal View Manor, formerly of 23 Main St., Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, 2010, with his daughter, Patty at his bedside. Born at home in the south end of Yarmouth on July 25, 1918, he was a son of the late Jedidah A. Crocker and Mary "Mae" V. Lent. As a young man, he worked with his father in the eelgrass business. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in England, Belgium, France, Germany and Holland, returning home in 1946. Dick was a carpenter/general contractor. After retirement he enjoyed working on his woodlot in Mood's Mill where he had a small Christmas tree lot. He was a long-time member of The Yarmouth Golf & Country Club, where he used to caddy as a young boy. He was an avid curler and golfer and was also a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 61, Yarmouth. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris "Dot" L. (Hamilton) Crocker and daughter, Patricia "Patty" S. Crocker (Lorne G. Allen); sister, June (Crocker) Allen, Red Deer Alta., her son, Gregory and daughter, Susan, both of Alberta; niece, Carolyn (Cooke) Seguin of La Chute, Que., and numerous nieces and nephews from his wife's side of the family. He was predeceased by twin sons in infancy (March 15, 1941); sister, M. Alice (Crocker) Cooke (1916 - September, 2004) and her daughter, Donna; brother, A. Grayson Crocker (1917 - January 2004). Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. There was no viewing or funeral service. A private graveside committal will take place in May in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery in the Crocker family plot, as Dick requested. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one who helped with Dad's care - Veteran's Affairs and rep. Ray Simmons; the nursing staff of the 3rd and 4th floors of Yarmouth Regional Hospital, while he was your patient for four months; to the nursing staff of Tidal View Manor, where he was a resident since Janaury 6; his physician Dr. Budhoo and to Dr. Randall, mere words cannot express our appreciation of you for taking over Dad's care in Dr. Budhoo's absence.
