67, Sydney It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Nancy Jefferson on Jan. 19, 2009. Nancy died peacefully at home after her courageous battle with cancer. Born in Iowa, she was the eldest daughter of the late Ellen and James Idleman. Nancy was employed at Maple Leaf Gardens, where she met many great friends for 17 years until moving to Truro in 1990. During her time in Truro, Nancy and Bill were loving foster parents to a number of children from the Truro area. Nancy was a well respected lady who touched the hearts of everyone she knew. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Bill; children, William, Halifax, Coleen Cipak (Wendell Greer), Sydney, Paul, Halifax, Andrew, Alberta; and four grandchildren, Ashley, Stephen, Jorden and James. She is also survived by her sister, Kathy Turrentine, California; brothers, James, California, and David, Wisconsin. Besides her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her two sisters, Mary and Judy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cape Breton Palliative Care Society. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at 1 p.m. one hour prior to the memorial service at 2 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sheldon Chant officiating.
