Passed peacefully away on March 3, 2009 at the BPHCC Vincent Mallay of Marystown. Pre-deceased by wife Margaret, father Thomas and mother Elizabeth, seven brothers and two sisters. Leaving to mourn son Terry (Lenora), grandchildren Terry (Gertie) Roger (Marie) great-grandchildren Danielle, Vincent, Christina, Roger and Emily, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Vincent was a member of H.M. Merchant Marine from 1940 - 1945. Following the war he returned to Marystown and for a number of years he worked for Fishery Products Burin. Later, he served as a engineer on the Belle Isle II and also on a number of the C.N. Coastal boats including The Hopedale, The Clarenville, The Bonavista, The Nonia, The Taverner and also, on the Leif Eriksson.
Vincent was a member of the Naval Association of Newfoundland and of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29 Burin. He was a Lifetime member of the Lions Club and a member of the Ville Marie Council Knights of Columbus.
Father Theodore O’Connor officiated at the funeral mass from the Sacred Heart Parish Church Marystown on Thursday March 5, 2009 followed by interment at the R.C. Cemetery.
