It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Lewis Strickland, 88, of Glace Bay, formerly Rose Blanche, N.L., and formerly of Seaview Manor, where he and wife Mary resided for the past two years, on Friday, March 13, 2009, at the Glace Bay Health Care Facility.
Born in Rose Blanche, he was the son of the late George and Catherine Dolomount.
Lewis was employed at Becker’s Milk in Toronto.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Mary Skinner; sister, Annie Buckland, Harbour Le Cou; brothers, Roy (Delores), Fox Borough, Ont., and George (Rellie), St. John’s, N.L. Lewis is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and a very special niece, Phyllis.
Lewis was predeceased by infant daughter, Catherine, sisters, Marie Chislett, Maude Hatcher, Catherine, brothers, Wilfred and Daniel.
There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place with a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520.
