Frances Christine Nowlan died peacefully following a brief illness on Friday, March 13th, 2009, at the age of 90 years.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a late daughter of the late Clarence P. and Annie (Murray) Smith.
She was a graduate of New Glasgow High School (1936) and Maritime Business College of Halifax. She was a valued employee of Irving Oil Company in Trenton for many years.
Most importantly she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In 1940 she married Alfred W. Nowlan, the love of her life for 61 married years. Together they enjoyed seven European tours and many Nova Scotia and P.E.I. tours on their Gold Wing motorcycle.
Frances is survived by her son, Kirby C. (Deborah) Nowlan, Kentville; a grandson, Evan Nowlan, Dallas, Texas; a brother, Everett Smith, New Glasgow; a sister-in-law, Patricia Nowlan, Berwick; several nieces and nephews.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, Alfred in July 2001.
Her remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow for visitation from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday from where funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Richard Sand officiating, a reception to follow the service. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery, Westville.
