Donald Lawrence Arseneau passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, March 16, 2009 at Gables Lodge, Amherst at the age of 80. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Born in Upper Nappan on December 27, 1928 he was a son of the late John and Jane (Coster) Arseneau. He worked on the family farm at an early age. In 1949 he went to work at Enamel Heating as a crane operator. After working for 25 years he received a watch and pin for his 25 years of service. In January of 1980 he retired when the plant closed. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting, trapping and old cars. In his later years he enjoyed yard sales, and listening to his CB and scanner, and he loved his tractor. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Olive Mary (Dobson), 2 daughters Linda (Dale Dempsey) and Carolyn Wilson both of Amherst; grandsons Kevin (Dawn) Dempsey and Stanley Wilson (Chantell) Burbine, one great granddaughter Ashlee Dawn Stacy Dempsey, sister in law Joyce Arseneau and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers Walter, Alton (Patty), sisters Catherine Noiles, Pauline Kelly, granddaughter Stacy Dempsey and niece Joan Chapman. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. from Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 3 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Bruce officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will take place at a later date in the Amherst Cemetery. Donations in Donald's memory may be made to the Stacy Dempsey Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Amherst Chapter of the Kidney Foundation. www.campbells-amherst.ca
