It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of Elizabeth Ann Connolly, 84, resident of Cleary Avenue, North Sydney, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, on Monday, March 16, 2009, in Oshawa, Ont., while visiting with her family.
Born in Port aux Basques, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Susan (Chant) Richards.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, James E. Connolly; and her children, Shirley (Willard) Keeping, Albert (Leanne) Connolly, Brantford, Jim (Lindalea) Connolly, North Sydney, Bridget (Eric) Roesler, Pembrooke, Ont., Yvonne (Robert) Clissold, Oshawa, Joe (Diane) Connolly, Brantford, and Jason (Nadine) Connolly, Sydney Mines; one brother, Morgan (Doris) Richards, Cambridge, Ont., also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Josephine, three brothers, Joe Richards, Jim Richards and Edward Richards, three sisters, Jessie Richards, Alfreda Richards, Beth Richards, a granddaughter, Jennifer Keeping.
Visitation for Elizabeth will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service to be held 2 p.m., Friday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
