(April 18, 1916 - March 17, 2009). Passed peacefully away at the Pentecostal Senior Citizens Home, Clarkes Beach on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, Cyril Percey of Brigus, aged 92 years. Predeceased by his parents John and Florence Percey, brothers Charles, Alfred, Nathan & Archibald, sisters Mary and Shirley. Leaving to mourn his wife Elizabeth Emma Gushue (Baikie), son Ralph (Wendy), granddaughters Emma (Lee), Nanette (Nick) and two great-granddaughters, all of Dorset, England; stepchildren: Tredway (June) Baikie), Allan (Janet) Baikie of North West River, Lucretia (Frank) Hennebury of Paradise, Katherine (Reginald) Pottle of North West River; step-grandchildren: Kenny, Carolyn and Gail Baikie, Jamie Baikie, Frankie, Greg, Jason and Jerry Hennebury, Tanya, Barry and Eric Pottle; brother Jim (Bernice) Percey of Brigus and a large circle of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Cyril is a Veteran of the Royal Navy of World War II (1939-1945). He is remembered as a Brigus Volunteer Firefighter, a long time barber of Brigus, an avid gardener, and his kindness and generosity. In accordance with Cyril’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Special thanks to his extraordinary caregivers at Collingwood Downs and the Pentecostal Senior Citizens Home, Clarkes Beach and nursing staff at the Carbonear Hospital. A very special thank you to his step-niece, Bev Forward of Brigus. As an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to Daffodil Place or a charity of one’s choice.
